Author: Your Inner Art

I grew up around art and my creative spirit has been nurtured throughout my life. I have always found arts & crafts to be fun, relaxing, and fulfilling. I stumbled into making beaded jewelry in my 20's and I still love playing with beads. I’ve worked in two bead stores, taught jewelry classes for 8 years, and my jewelry has been in many galleries. I am a guest artist at the Fall Art Tour in Sauk County. I used an altered book to rediscover who I am and the path I wanted to take when I though all was lost. I found that in fact, all was found and I returned to college to pursue the dream that was inside me—just waiting to be realized. I am a graduate of Edgewood College with a BS in Art Therapy and minors in Art & Psychology. While in school I continued to work with people from all walks of life and abilities. I have such a great time working with people who are finding that they do beautiful work. This lead me to continue my passion of sharing the fun, joy, and self discovery that art brings. I have drawn from my life experiences to create classes that are designed to focus on the fun that art brings.

Waterdoodles 101

Instead of words here’s a how to video for one of my favorite creative projects! You may hear me sigh several times but that’s because my words float away into the abyss sometimes when I’m talking. Heavy sigh!! Have fun trying this and the next video will be lifting the paint.

Dear Diary, Why am I Here?

"Why am I here?" Probably the most asked question in all of history and a perfect exploration for you in your diary. Here's the best part of the question, it's one only you can answer for yourself. This is a decision YOU decide. It also tells a lot about how you frame your life. Are … Continue reading Dear Diary, Why am I Here?

Dear Diary – I feel clear when I write it out.

The best thing about having a diary is to process all the stuff that goes on in my head. If you are a creative, you have a lot of ideas and those ideas get cluttered if they stay in your head. I do feel clear when I write out the ideas I have. There are … Continue reading Dear Diary – I feel clear when I write it out.

Uncertain? Take time to get clear

This is a very uncertain time in our collective history. We've never been here before in America. History doesn't dictate what the outcome will be, it tells us what others have done with the knowledge they had at the time.

Today's creation is Christmas cookies. Christmas music in the background!! Cozy Comfort & Joy magic to everyone!!!
I forgot how relaxing knotting is. In an hour and 1/2 I got this done. It's great to use up random gemstone beads. Tassels are really easy too. #madidonartist #beadwork #knotting #gemstonebeads #mala #tassel
Doing some stencils in my book today. It's not going the way I imagined it but that's how the creative process works. I have not had a project workout like the "vision" in my head when I started. I do not chase my expectations in my art or my life anymore. That is a fool's errand. I get an idea and work with what flows organically. Expectations create perfectionism and that will always bring frustration. Let's see how this works out. #madidonartist #doodle #design #project #mixedmedia #watercolor #creativeflow #abstractart #penandink #magic #sigil #selflove #selfcare #selfdiscovery #creative #love #artjournal #personalart #artastherapy #alteredbook #expectation
I love using Sarah Brethnach's series of books- Simple Abundance. There's several and I like using the daybook. I'm reading a page for my meditation and then journaling my insights/intensions. I will either paint or collage over my writing. This book will be filled with focused attention (spells) and it will carry all the positive energy I'm putting into it. I will have a powerful tailsman when it's done. My personal creative journey has enriched my imagination, my self esteem, and my spiritual journey. #madidonartist #doodle #design #project #mixedmedia #watercolor #creativeflow #abstractart #penandink #magic #sigil #selflove #selfcare #selfdiscovery #creative #love #witch #alteredbook #gratitude
I substituted in the library today and built a Christmas tree out of books. Streamers are old magazines. The top is a book with folded pages. I am now known as "the cool substitute" with the kids. It's a great group of teenagers. #madidonartist #project #mixedmedia #substitute #selflove #selfcare #selfdiscovery #creative #love
My Sunday project. We've spent the last few days organizing all our stuff & getting rid of a bunch! Our apartment is a one bedroom - Even in a small space I find room to create. I am very comfortable living small & simple. Altered books are perfect for any space & anyone!!!! #madidonartist #doodle #design #project #mixedmedia #watercolor #creativeflow #collage #alteredbook #magic #selflove #selfcare #selfdiscovery #creative #love
